‘I Will Sack You Publicly’ — Angry Soludo Threatens LG Chairman Over Poor Road Construction

Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, has publicly criticized the Caretaker Chairman of Ogbaru Local Government Area, Paschal Aniegbunam, during an inspection of a road project in the area.

The incident, captured on video and circulating on social media, shows Governor Soludo expressing his disappointment with the lack of a pedestrian walkway along the Relief Market-Obodo-Ukwu Road in Okpoko.

In the video, the governor accuses Mr. Aniegbunam of incompetence and threatens to sack him if the walkway is not constructed.

“If I come here again and see all this rubbish here, I will sack you publicly. You are incompetent,” Governor Soludo is heard saying in the video.

Mr. Aniegbunam reportedly attempted to defend himself by stating he wasn’t responsible for the project’s design. However, the governor countered, questioning why the project was allowed to proceed without a walkway.

Governor Soludo’s anger extended to shops built close to the roadside. He demanded their removal to create space for pedestrians and instructed Mr. Aniegbunam to identify the person who approved the project design for immediate dismissal.

“Get me the person who approved it and I will sack that person tomorrow. If any person approved this, that person is leaving my government tomorrow,” the governor declared.

An initial misunderstanding arose online, with some suggesting the governor addressed the State Commissioner for Works, Ifeanyi Okoma. However, a governor’s aide clarified that Mr. Soludo was indeed criticizing the Ogbaru Local Government Area Chairperson.
