JUST IN: EU Authorizes Remdesivir For Covid-19 Treatment

The European Union has approved
Remdesivir as medication for Covid-19, across member states.

“We have authorised the first medicine, Remdesivir, to treat #coronavirus at EU level,” EU tweeted on Friday.

EU noted that the drug had been cleared and recommended by the
European Medicines Agency (EMA).

“This conditional marketing authorisation comes less than a month after the application was submitted, supported by @EMA_News and EU countries,” it tweeted.

On her part,EU Health Commissioner Stella Kyriakides said the development was one step forward in the fight against covid-19.

“We will leave no stone unturned in our efforts to secure efficient treatments or vaccine against the coronavirus,” she tweeted.
