JUST IN: Five Injured As Gas Explosion Rocks FCT Community

There was a gas explosion in the Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja on Saturday which left five people, including three children, seriously injured.

The incident was said to have occurred after a gas cylinder exploded and burst into flames.

The blast, according to eye witnesses took place at an uncompleted building area of Dagiri which is just few metres from the Lokoja/Abuja road.

One of the eye witness said those injured have been taken to Zamad Hospital in the Dagiri area of Gwagwalada.

It was gathered that the incident occurred when a customer came to buy fuel and was carelessly making calls.

“We can’t really say what happened, but all we heard was an explosion, boom,” an eye witness said.

No fewer than four shops were also affected by the explosion.
