Kidnapped Rivers United Coach Regains Freedom

About three days after his abduction by unknown gunmen, head coach of Rivers United FC, Stanley Eguma, has regained his freedom.

THE WHISTLER had reported that Eguma was kidnapped on Monday night in Enugu on his way to Port Harcourt.

A member of the coach’s team who spoke off-the-record to THE WHISTLER said he was released Friday morning.

He said his release came after series of negotiations with the management of the club.

THE WHISTLER, could not confirm if any ransom was paid to secure his release.

The River State Police Command spokesperson, SP, Nnamdi Omoni, said he had not been briefed when THE WHISTLER contacted him.
