Governor Godwin Obaseki has visited President Muhammadu Buhari following his victory at the recent Edo State governorship election.

The governor visited the Presidential Villa in company with his deputy, Philip Shaiba, on Friday.

Obaseki was a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and had sought President Buhari’s blessing for his re-election.

He had dumped the party for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after his erstwhile party denied him its governorship ticket.

The Edo governor had subsequently won his re-election bid, defeating the candidate of the APC, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, at the polls.

Although there were speculations that he might be planning to defect back to the APC after his victory, the governor told State House correspondents that it would be “immoral” of him to return to the party, reports Punch.

Obaseki was said to have thanked President Buhari for creating a level playing field for the various contestants in the Edo poll to test their strengths.
