PenCom To Verify Prospective Retirees From 1st July

Verification for prospective retirees due to retire in 2020 will start from 1st July to August 2nd, the National Pension Commission (PenCom) has said.

The Director-General of PenCom, Mrs. Aisha Dahir-Umar, disclosed this during a sensitization Workshop held in Lagos for all employees of Federal Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) due for retirement between January and December 2020 under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) in attendance.

According to her, the sensitization exercise is aimed at educating prospective retirees on the modalities for accessing retirement benefits under the CPS.

“The objectives of the Pension Reform Act (PRA 2014) is to ensure that every person who worked in either in the Public Service of the Federation, Federal Capital Territory, States and Local Governments or the Private Sector receives his retirement benefits as and when due and to establish a uniform set of rules, regulations and standards for all aspects of pension administration, including payment of retirement benefits to retirees amongst others.”
