Police Appeal For Information On Abductors Of Village Head, Wife In Ibadan

Some gunmen suspected to be kidnappers invaded Araro village in the Ido Local Government Area of Ibadan and abducted the village head, Chief Tafa Apanpa and his wife identified as Mujidat.

The police in Oyo State confirmed the abduction in a text message to our correspondent on Wednesday and appealed to the public for information that could aid rescue effort.

They said the victims would be rescued from their abductors.

The incident which reportedly happened during the downpour recorded in Ibadan on Tuesday night was said to have thrown those living in the village into panic.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, said efforts were already in place to rescue the chief and his wife from the abductors.

He said, “The incident happened very late on Tuesday, 22nd of June, 2021at Araro village. Efforts are in top gear to rescue both victims and as well apprehend the abductors.”

He called on residents to assist the police with useful information that could aid the police in their efforts to rescue the victims and apprehend the gunmen.
