According to the minister, “her political God father”, referring to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, may be running for presidency in 2019, hence the reason for her resignation, saying she would be campaigning for him rather than President Buhari.

The Minister who was sighted around 2:24pm leaving the Presidential Villa was cornered by State House Correspondents to react to media report credited to her that she will support Atiku Abubakar, former vice-president, if he decides to run for office in 2019.

Alhassan was seen leaving the Office of the Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari who was said not to be on seat at the time she came calling.

Quizzed on the outcome of her meeting with the Presidency by State House correspondents, the minister said: “No, I have no comment. What will I say now, I have said all in BBC Hausa. Get someone who speaks Hausa very well to translate it for you.”
