I’ll Resign If Buhari Dares Seek Reelection In 2019 – Minister

President Muhammadu Buhari reportedly made known his intention not to seek second term in office before he was first elected president in 2015.

This was according to the Minister of Women’s Affairs, Aisha Alhassan, who on Wednesday told Reuters that she would resign if President Buhari attempts another shot at the presidency in 2019.

Citing Buhari’s health issues, Alhassan said the president must take a bow after his first tenure in office.

“In 2014/2015 he said he was going to run for only one time to clean up the mess that the (previous) PDP government did in Nigeria. And I took him for his word that he is not contesting in 2019,” Minister of Women Affairs Alhassan said.

The minister further declared that she would rather support former Vice President Atiku Abubakar if the latter decides to run for president.

“If today Mr. President says he is running in 2019 I will go to him respectfully and thank him for giving me an opportunity to serve and then tell him that I have to resign because my political father may be running,” she said.
