Publisher Of PointblankNews Bags Sri Lanka’s Peace Ambassador Award

Publisher and founder of Pointblanknews.com, Jackson Ude has been conferred with the Peace Ambassador award of Centre for Peace Studies (CPS), Sri Lanka.

Ude, a former Director of Strategy and Communication under President Goodluck Jonathan administration, was nominated by Dr. Charles Wratto.

He received the award following his outstanding contribution to the media, his fight against corruption and advocacy for good governance and democracy.

A letter signed by Executive Director CPS, Prof Dr. Riyas Sulaima Lebbe, said the laurel bestowed on Ude is to promote United Nations sustainable development goal 2030 as volunteer worldwide and to create a better world for future generation.

CPS’ vision is to create “Reconciliation through Tolerance.” It has over 100 Peace Ambassadors in 22 countries.

Ude has over 25 years of experience as a journalist within Nigeria and the United States.

He was born in Amurie, Nkporo in Ohafia Local government of Abia State, Nigeria. He fled Nigeria in 2002 after his life was threatened over an investigative News story he authored published in the defunct Post Express Newspapers, which angered the then Government of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

He was immediately granted Asylum in the United States where he continued his Journalism career.

He has two bachelor’s degrees in mass communications, Multi-Lingual Journalism with Special Interest in Chinese Mandarin, Portuguese and French and African American Studies from Lehman College, City University of New York, CUNY.

Ude was invited by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in 2013 to work as Director of Strategy and Digital Communications in the Presidency.

The Peace Ambassador of the year 2019 award is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 5, 2019 in Colombo, Sri Lanka at the BMICH (Jasmin Hall) at 2.30PM.
