Shooting Stars Defeat Enyimba In Ibadan As NPFL Return In Style

Shooting Stars recorded a stunning 3-0 win over Enyimba at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan on Wednesday as the Nigeria Premier Football League returned with a bang.

It was a triumphant return from the festive break for the hosts, who produced a dominant performance to brush aside The People’s Elephants.

Lucky Emmanuel opened the scoring for Shooting Stars in the 17th minute before Sodiq Ibrahim, and Qamar Adegoke added the other goals in the second half.

The victory propelled Shooting Stars to fourth on the table with 32 points from 20 games while Enyimba occupy the 11th position with 26 points from the same number of games.

Kano Pillars earned a hard-fought 1-0 win over Nasarawa United away to boost their relegation survival hopes thanks to a goal from Chiedozie Okorie.

Newly-promoted Warri Wolves also grabbed the maximum points with a 1-0 win over Wikki Tourists in Bauchi courtesy of a goal from Ezekiel Oroh in the 59th minute.

Bendel Insurance pipped Kwara United 1-0 in Ilorin with Emmanuel Akpan scoring the only goal in the 82nd minute.

Abia Warriors, and Plateau United played out a 1-1 draw, Saka Gafar gave the visitors the lead after eight minutes before Emeka Obioma restored parity for Abia Warriors in the 28th minute.

Leaders Rivers United battled to a goalless draw with Enugu Rangers at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.

Defending champions Remo Stars earned a 1-0 win over Ikorodu City, Haruna Quadri scored the only goal of the encounter.

Remo Stars occupy the 13th position with 25 points from 20 matches following a disappointing start to their title defence.

The Sky Blue Stars will return to NPFL action against Rivers United on Saturday at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.
