Offa Robbery: Saraki Responds To Police
Senate President Bukola Saraki has sent his response to the Nigerian police on allegations linking him with the Offa robbery incident, in Kwara State.
Saraki, in a tweet on Thursday said he had sent a written response to the police.
THE WHISTLER recalls that the police had on Sunday invited Mr Saraki to make himself available at their headquarters in Abuja to answer to allegations levelled against him by some of the bank robbery suspects in their custody.
The Force PRO, Mr Jimoh Moshood, said the gang leader of the perpetrators of the deadly Offa bank robbery allegedly confessed to having relations with the Senate President.
But Saraki, who expressed readiness to oblige to the police invitation when it is formally extended to him, denied any wrongdoing.
The police later told the Senate President to respond in writing within 48 hours.
Responding on Thursday, Saraki wrote, “In line with their request, earlier today, the police received my response to their letter on the investigation into the Offa robbery case.”

The suspected robbers were said to have robbed at least five banks during the operation.
They were equally said to have killed at least 33 people, including 9 police officers.
Millions of naira were carted away during the bank robbery.
