Trump Threatens To Leave ‘Very Little’ Of Iran If It Retaliates

US President Donald Trump has threatened to launch a much bigger attack on Iran if Tehran retaliates against the latest American strikes near the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump issued the warning on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, in a post on Truth Social, shortly after announcing that US forces were striking Iranian targets near the strategic waterway.

“The strikes are large and powerful, and in retaliation for the Iranians’ failed attempt at adding sea mines to the Strait,” Trump wrote.

He also said the strikes were in response to Iran firing eight missiles at a US military base in Jordan, claiming that all eight were successfully intercepted.

Trump said the Strait of Hormuz currently had no mines, adding that they had either been removed or detonated.

The US president warned that Iran would face another attack at a “much harder and higher level” if it retaliated against the latest US operation.

He further suggested that Washington had an even larger attack prepared, warning that “there will be very little left of the Islamic Republic of Iran” when that operation is carried out.

Trump described the latest US action as a “very justified attack” and warned Tehran against responding.

The warning comes amid escalating military tensions between Washington and Tehran, with both sides exchanging attacks around the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has meanwhile said Tehran remains willing to pursue a negotiated solution to the conflict, provided Washington honours its commitments under an interim agreement.

Trump’s latest threat raises the prospect of further escalation if Iran responds militarily to the US strikes, as diplomatic efforts to contain the conflict remain uncertain.
