He disclosed this in a tweet on Wednesday.

“Glad to be in Israel to coordinate with @IsraeliPM @Netanyahu and @Gantzbe on countering two critical threats: COVID-19 and Iran. Israel and the United States will take on these challenges side by side,” he tweeted.

The U.S. and the Islamic Republic of Iran have been opposing each other for years, leading to various sanctions and military attacks, which has largely destabilized the Arab world.

Last month, the U.S. President, Donald Trump had ordered the country’s navy to fire at Iranian boats for provocative actions.

Aljazeera reports that Pompeo is expected to discuss Israel’s possible annexation of parts of the occupied West Bank, a move expected to enrage the Palestinians and many of Israel’s Western allies.
