Anambra Hunter Kills Wife, Son, Commits Suicide

One Uchechukwu Nweke, 65, Thursday, allegedly killed his wife, son and then shot himself in Anambra State. The incident occurred at Amunike community in Awka North Local Government Area of the state. The late Nweke, after shooting his wife, reportedly set his house ablaze, killing his son in the process; before taking his own life.

According to the police PRO, Anambra State Command, CSP Haruna Mohammed, “There was a report from the vigilante chairman of Amunike community in Awka North LGA of Anambra State that a hunter, one Uchechukwu Nweke, ‘m’, aged 65 years old, allegedly shot his wife, Patricia Nweke, 55, with a single barrel gun and also burnt his house along with his son, named Obinna Nweke, aged 29 years old, in a circumstances yet to be ascertained. The suspect equally shot himself using the same gun.”

Mr Mohammed stated further that, “Police detectives attached to Achalla Police Station visited the scene and rushed the victims to Uche Hospital, Isuanocha, for medical attention where all the three victims were certified dead by a medical doctor on arrival. The corpses of the victims were deposited at the hospital morgue for autopsy.”

He said investigations were ongoing to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident.
