APC Positions To Take Over Enugu State In Next Elections

Members of the All Progressives Congress APC in Enugu State are confident the party could take over the state in the next general elections.

Members in Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State say the next state party chairman must come from the Greater Awgu zone for the sake of equity.

The stakeholders made this assertion after their recent meeting held at Okpanku. They also expressed confidence that the party would win elective positions in the state following the resolution of all the stakeholders to work as a team.

The chairman of the party in the LGA, Mr Emeka Eze, while commending the APC faithful for their steadfast, said that the current peace in the party was an indication that the party would emerge victorious in various elective positions in the state come 2023.

Commenting on the ambition of one of the stakeholders, Chief John Udeokorie, to contest the position of the state chairman of the party come 2022, Mr Eze said it was the turn of the Greater Awgu to occupy the position, and appealed to other stakeholders to give him their support.

According to Nze Mathias Ukpai, former auditor, Enugu State APC, “I worked with Udeokorie right from the APP, and he is a good material. He is a grass-roots politician and very straightforward. That is why we want to support his ambition to contest. The APC, Aninri caucus, has adopted him.”

Chief Akpa Christopher, chairman of all chairmen, APC, Aninri LGA, said, “Chief Udeokorie is sound. He does not segregate. We have done well by resolving the differences between the hitherto factions in the LGA. That is why all the ward chairmen in the local government have vowed to stand by him to move the party forward in Enugu State.”

Mr Udeokye told THE WHISTLER that, “I am happy for the honour done to me by my people for nominating me as their sole candidate for the post of the state chairman of the party. I thank our leader, Chief Ken Nnamani, for bringing unity in the party. I also thank foreign affairs minister Geoffrey Onyema for his quality representation, and the incumbent state chairman of the party, Dr Ben Nwoye, for piloting the affairs of the party very well. We need unalloyed love to move this party forward. If I’m elected, I will move it forward.”
