Ayade Sacks Aides Days After Cross-Carpeting To APC

Ben Ayade, Cross River State governor, has sacked four commissioners and five special advisers (SA) days after defecting to the governing All Progressives Congress (APC).

A statement on Monday in Calabar by Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Christian Ita, disclosed that those sacked are Asu Okang, Commissioner for Information, Donatus Etim, Commissioner for the Ministry of Climate Change, Rita Ayim, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Mike Usibe, Commissioner for New Cities Development.

Special advisers affected include SA on Security, Leo Inyambe, SA Palm Oil Development, John Etim, SA Callywood, Orok Duke, Victor Okon and Agbiji Mbeh-Agbiji.

The statement stated that the affected appointees have been directed to return all government properties to the Chief of Staff to the governor.

Ayade, a professor, defected to the APC on May 20, after a two-hour meeting with seven APC governors led by the party’s interim chairman and governor of Yobe State, Mala Buni.
