Barcelona have agreed a deal with Chinese football club, Guangzhou Evergrande to sign midfielder Paulinho for €40 million ($47.16 million), the Spanish club announced on Monday.
The 29-year-old Brazilian international will undergo a Barca medical on Thursday morning before signing his contract with his new club later that day.
The midfielder will be Ernesto Valverde’s first signing since the world-record €222m sale of Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain.
Barca have not confirmed the length of Paulinho’s contract, but they have stated that it will include a €120m buy-out clause.
