Bishop Wale Oke Explains How Nigeria Can Overcome Boko Haram, Herdsmen Crises

Presiding Bishop of The Sword of the Spirit Ministries, Ibadan, Bishop Francis Wale Oke, has said the Boko Haram insurgency and the menace of herdsmen would be subjugated if the church in Nigeria could rely totally on the Holy Spirit.

Oke, who is the President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, said this at the consecration of the Ogun State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria Rev Tunde Akin-Akinsanya of the Communion of Faith Assembly, Abeokuta, as a Bishop.

According to a statement from the PFN president on Monday, the event which drew dignitaries from all walks of life, took place on Sunday at the campus of the Precious Cornerstone University, Olaogun, Ibadan.

The renowned cleric called on church leaders and Christians across the nation to rededicate themselves to service of God.

“If the church in Nigeria will depend on the Holy Spirit, Boko Haram and Fulani herdsmen will not prevail.”

The Bishop maintained that enemies of Christianity and the nation’s progress would always fail in their antics, stressing, “If we can depend wholly on the Holy Spirit and keep praying, all our challenges will surely be conquered”

He warned church leaders to stop cutting corners with the aim of manipulating God’s work and its people, warning that God should not be served in deceit.

Oke described the newly consecrated Bishop as a man of God found worthy in his calling, urging him not to deviate from serving God.

In his remarks while congratulating Bishop Akinsanya, the Ogun State Governor described him as a man of faith who had been supportive.

Also speaking at the occasion, CAN President, Rev Samson Ayokunle and Rev Mrs Esther Ajayi, described the Akin-Akinsanya, the new Bishop, as a worthy vessel in the vineyard.
They both prayed for him and equally advised him to continue to be steadfast in the Lord.

Ogun State Governor, Mr Dapo Abiodun, urged religious leaders in the country to always use their platforms in preaching sermons and exhortations that would enhance national unity and peace in the land.

The newly consecrated bishop in his response thanked those in attendance and assured them that God would continue to be number one in all his dealings.

Among those at the occasion include, Mrs Bola Obasanjo, the wife of the nation’s former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, the CAN President, Rev Esther Ajayi, Ogun State Governor, top government functionaries, Oba Wale Ajayi, the Akangbo Remo, among others.
