Boko Haram Strikes Again, Beheads 6 In Borno

No fewer than six men have died after Boko Haram terrorists attacked a village in northeast Borno State on Tuesday, a source confirmed to the AFP.

The ugly incident which occurred around 2 am local time, was said to be a reprisal attack, for the arrest of two Boko Haram members about two months ago, Kulo Musa, a local resident in the area said.

Musa said the nine Boko Haram attackers broke into the homes of the six men and instead of using their guns, the opted to use knife so as not to alert soldiers manning the community.

“We believe the attackers suspected the six people they killed of tipping off the military which led to the arrest of the two Boko Haram fighters,” he said.

Another resident confirmed that the insurgents used their knives to slit the throats of the men before fleeing unharmed.

“The attackers evaded a nearby military checkpoint by entering the village through bush paths,” said Ibrahim Liman, the head of a local anti-jihadist militia force.

“The chief of the village was among the victims and it was clear the victims were deliberately targeted.”

Despite incessant claims by the military, Boko haram continues to carry out attacks in Borno State, recently abducting three staffs of the University of Maiduguri.

Since the insurgents started eight years ago, it has killed more than 20,000 people and displaced about 2.6 million.
