Brazil Court Orders Netflix To Remove Movie Depicting Jesus Christ As Gay

The Brazilian Catholic organization had filed a petition to the court, arguing that the “honor of millions of Catholics” was hurt by the airing of “The First Temptation of Christ” by the media company.

“The First Temptation of Christ” depicts Jesus returning home on his 30th birthday and implying that he is gay.

Associated press reported that the special was produced by the Rio-based film company, Porta dos Fundos, Brazil, whose headquarters was targeted in the Christmas Eve attack.

In the ruling, Rio de Janeiro judge, Benedicto Abicair, said that the withdrawal of the program “is beneficial not only to the Christian community, but to Brazilian society which is mostly Christian.”

Netflix and Porta declined to comment on the judge’s decision, which is valid until another court gives a contrary ruling.

Recall that a fiery televangelist, Johnson Suleiman had urged Nigerians to delete Netflix because of its attack on Christianity.
