Buhari’s 2018 Budget Proposal Is ‘Fictitious’ – Sen. Abaribe

Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe of Abia South Senatorial District, on Tuesday, described the 2018 Budget proposal submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari to the National Assembly as “fictitious”.

Abaribe said this during a debate on the 2018 Appropriation Bill by the upper legislative chamber.

Countering Abaribe, however, was the Senate Majority Leader, Senator Ahmad Lawan, who asked the Abia lawmaker to immediately withdraw the “fictitious” narrative given to the 2018 budget.

Abaribe, who then quickly withdrew the narrative, said:

“I am just quoting the Senate Leader from his speech, which said in the 2018 budget was designed to consolidate on the achievements of the 2016 and 2017 budgets. What was done in 2017 when less than 15 percent of that budget was released. Nothing was done and that was why I called it (2018 budget proposal) fictitious.”
