Covenant University Rated Best Research Institution In Nigeria

Based on SciVal computations, Covenant University is ranked the best research institution in Nigeria, ahead of the nation’s premier universities.

This was made known on Saturday via a tweet from CU’s vice chancellor, Atayero.

SciVal is a web-based analytics solution that provides comprehensive access to the research performance of more than fourteen thousand(14,000) research institutions from two hundred and thirty (230) nations globally.

Covenant came number one among the leading 100 tertiary institutions in country, due to its large percentage of scholarly output.

Recall that the 2019 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings had stated that CU was the leading institution in the nation, followed by the University of Ibadan, the University of Lagos and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

Based on the research outcomes, the private university broke ranks with ninety percent of top Nigerian authors in Computer Science, ninety percent of top ten Multidisciplinary Nigerian authors ; eighty percent of top ten Nigerian authors in engineering; and sixty percent of top ten Nigerian authors in the last five years.

A former executive secretary of National Universities Commission (NUC), Julius Okojie, had said that private universities in Nigeria are more stable than government-owned universities.

CU was established in 2002 by Living faith church, with a vision to be a leading world-class christian mission university, committed to raising a new generation of leaders in all fields of human endeavor and to become a new generation ‘Harvard university’.
