Mrs. Ugwuanyi, during the distribution in Enugu, said the items would improve the hygiene state of the beneficiries, particularly hand washing, in curbing the spread of the COVID-19, adding that food items were already being distributed.

She said, “The items will not reach all the people of the state but will be handed over to the chairpersons of the seventeen LGAs for onward distribution to the poorest of the poor in the rural communities. We are here to support the state government with the help of Unilever Nigeria Limited. We used to give food stuffs, but with this COVID-19 pandemic, there is need to encourage our people to always wash their hands regularly.”

The wife of Udenu Local Government Chairman, Mrs Ugochi Onah, on behalf of other local council chairpersons in the state, commended Mrs. Ugwuanyi and Unilever for their generosity.

She said, “This is not the first time our Mummy has been helping the less privileged. She has been doing so, especially since the beginning of this pandemic. On our part, we shall ensure the judicious distribution of the items.”
