COVID-19: Kanye West, Chick-fil-A Provide 300,000 Meals For Poor Americans

Kanye West and Chick-fil-A are helping feed those in need during the global pandemic. West and the fast food giant teamed with the Los Angeles Dream Center to provide 300,000 meals, which translate  to approximately 11,000 meals per day, since March.

“The Los Angles Dream Center has transformed into the Grand Central Station of food distribution and other basic essentials,” Dream Center founder. Matthew Barnett told Fox News. “I’m so grateful that our team has stayed healthy and that we’ve found a safe way to meet the urgent needs within our community.

“I can’t say thank you enough to the various donors who’ve made this a reality,” Barnett continued. “This is what a neighborhood, a community, and a church should always look like.”

In March, L.A. County announced mandatory stay-at-home orders for all non-essential businesses, which included closing every school in the L.A. Unified School District. With more than 700,000 students and 1,302 schools, the LAUSD is the largest public school system in the nation.

Since the shutdown, the Dream Center has stepped in to feed families of children who depend on free school meals. The organization offers grab-and-go options where residents can drive by and pick up meals between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m, seven days a week. In addition to grab-and-go meals and feeding at least 700 residents of the Dream Center facility, the organization delivers food supplies to as many as 20 different outreach sites, and care packages of food and other necessities to the elderly in L.A.’s Echo Park neighborhood.
