President Buhari had ordered that Lagos, Abuja, and Ogun, which jointly account for the highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country, be locked down while efforts are made to “identify, trace and isolate all individuals that have come into contact with confirmed cases.”

“All citizens in these areas are to stay in their homes. Travel to or from other states should be postponed. All businesses and offices within these locations should be fully closed during this period,” the president had said in his nationwide broadcast on the global pandemic.

Buhari had noted that while such measures will cause much hardship and inconvenience to residents of the areas, the citizens must see it as a “national and patriotic duty to control and contain the spread of this virus.”

THE WHISTLER correspondents visited Gwarimpa, Jabbi, Berger, Kubwa, and other neighborhoods within the FCT where a high compliance rate was observed.

Security officials were also seen at Berger, Jabbi, and other areas, ensuring compliance with the lockdown order.

The ever-busy Berger roundabout looked like a ghost town as only enforcement officials were seen manning a roadblock at the popular bus stop.
