Covid-19: Italy Govt To Extend Lockdown To 36 Days Despite 15,000 Recoveries

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the government of Italy says it would extend the national lockdown to April 13.

This is coming after the Prime minister, Giuseppe Conte, had imposed a national lockdown in March 9, due to the rising cases of covid-19 in the country.

The nation’s health minister, Roberto Speranza, disclosed this to the parliament on Wednesday.

He said that removing the national restrictions too early because of some positive stories could be counter productive for the nation.

“Data shows that we are on the right path and that the drastic decisions are bearing fruit.

“Getting the timing wrong or taking decisions too early would end up cancelling out the work done in these very difficult weeks,” he said.
