Covid-19: Plateau Leads With 103 Infections,As Nigeria Records 443 New Cases

Nigeria has recorded 443 new coronavirus (COVID-19) infections, bringing its total caseload to 45,687.

According to figures reported by the Nigeria Center For Disease Control (NCDC) on Friday night, the new cases were confirmed in 19 states.

The report showed that the state with the highest number of new cases was plateau with 103 infections, followed by Lagos with 70 and FCT having 60 cases.

The other states with new infections are Ondo-35; Edo and Rivers-27 each. Kaduna has 20 new Coronavirus cases; Osun-19; Borno-18; Oyo-18; Kwara-11; Adamawa-9; Nasarawa-7; Gombe-6; Bayelsa and Imo-4 each; Bauchi and Ogun-2 each; Kano-1

So far, the country has been able to treat and discharge 32,637 patients (with 12,114 active cases), while its total number of deaths stood at 936.

Meanwhile, the NCDC has continued to urge members of the public to adhere to all recommended safety protocols to avoid the further spread of the virus.

The agency, on Friday , joined the World Mask Week (WMW) global movement aimed at encouraging people to wear face masks to protect to themselves against COVID-19.

The centre said in the absence of a vaccine that can prevent infection, and as COVID-19 cases increase globally, citizens must depend on non-pharmaceutical measures, which include the use of face masks, hand washing, physical distancing and supportive management of confirmed cases, to mitigate the impact of the disease.
