COZA: Police Invite Busola, Timi Dakolo Over ‘Criminal Conspiracy, Falsehood, Mischief’

Singer Timi Dakolo and his wife Busola have been invited to the Police Head Quarters in Abuja to answer questions bordering on “criminal conspiracy, falsehood, mischief and threat to life”.

There are indications that the police invitation may not be unconnected to Mrs Busola’s recent rape allegation against the senior pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) church, Biodun Fatoyinbo.

The invitation letters which were sent from the office of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Special Tactical Squad, carry police stamps and signature of the Deputy Commissioner of Police in the unit, DCP Kolo Yusuf.

One of the letters partly reads: “This office is investigating a case of Criminal Conspiracy, falsehood, mischief and threat to life that your name was mentioned.

“You are kindly requested to interview the undersigned officer on 23/07/2019 by 1000hours for fact findings through DSP. Ibrahim Agu with telephone number o8o37864191.”

Busola had granted an explosive interview last month where she alleged that pastor Fatoyinbo raped her twice while she was a teenager.

The COZA pastor had denied the allegation and eventually stepped down from mounting the church’s pulpit following protests asking him to do so pending the outcome of investigation in the matter.

Singer Dakolo had earlier today raised alarm on Instagram that some “strange men” where outside his house “with guns”.

He later posted on the photo-sharing app that some policemen tried “forcing their way into my house” to deliver the invitation letters to him and his wife.

The singer wrote, “Our lawyers had told us to get ready for this letter. We have long been ready for this type of institutionalized intimidation and dirtiness. Investigating officials have frustrated as a result of underhand delay? Dirty bloggers are fabricating things that cover the truth. Going to the IG’s people under dark to force this case to be posted to Abuja? Now this: a false investigation in Abuja when our own petition filed since June has not been answered and NO INVITATION HAS BEEN MADE TO THE ACCUSED IN A RAPE CASE????! NOT ONE MOVEMENT TOWARDS JUSTICE??? Rubbishing the legal and criminal system ?

“And sending a bus load of questionable armed “policemen” and shady men lying in wait to intimidate my wife and children today, forcing their way into my home? Is that how the REAL police delivers a letter ? This is best you can do? This is why all the hurting women and families havent come out with HORRIBLE THINGS DONE TO THEM???!!
You picked the wrong one and you picked the wrong time. Nigerians are more awake than you think.”

Dakolo further slammed Pastor Fatoyinbo, describing him as “a weak man who thinks he can use money and power to cover for all of his crimes.”

He said he, “I will fight for my wife and children. It’s the promise I made with my life and one I intend to keep.”

Meanwhile, in denying the rape allegation against him, the COZA pastor had earlier said, “I have never in my life raped anybody even as an unbeliever and I am absolutely innocent of this.

“Busola Dakolo, who has made this false allegation and her family attended the church during the early start of the church in Ilorin in 1999.

“I never had any private interactions with her beyond my pastoral duties. Looking at her status and that of her husband, I am dumbfounded why she would say such a thing,” he said.

Fatoyinbo added, “We will also not stand for false criminal allegations made against me or the church. The leadership of the church and I briefed our lawyers to commence Criminal and Civil actions against all individuals making such false allegations whether directly or by proxies. We will as a church pursue every measure within the ambits of the law to bring the culprits to justice.”
