Day Old Baby Found Dead In Refuse Dump In Port Harcourt

The Divisional Police Headquarters in Mile 1 Diobu, has evacuated the remains of a day old baby boy which was dumped at a refuse point along Ikwerre Road by Egede Street, Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt on Wednesday Night.

THE WHISTLER, gathered that the dead baby was discovered by some residents when they went to dispose refuse late at night on Wednesday.

The alarm raised by the first set of persons who saw the baby attracted a large crowd at the scene which resulted in a traffic gridlock in the area.

Meanwhile, the Secretary, Board of Trustee Center For Basic Rights and Accountability Campaign, Prince Wiro, who was also at the scene of the incident expressed sadness on the development while describing it as inhumane, evil and height of wickedness.

According to Wiro, “Sachets of injections were found close to the dead baby. The baby’s mother is said to be at large at the moment.

“Three weeks ago, some mechanics operating at the National/Elechi Street also discovered the decomposing body of an infant at a refuse site in the area.

“This act is inhuman and evil. Such wicked people if found should be severely dealt with and brought to book.”
