DSS Boss Gets Jail Threat Over Sowore’s Continued Detention

The Director-General of the Department of State Service, Yusuf Bichi, has been told he might face a jail term if he fails to release the convener of #RevolutionNow protest and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore.

Recall that Sowore was arrested and kept in the custody of the DSS since September 3, 2019, over allegations of spearheading the RevolutionNow protest.

Justice Taiwo Taiwo, on September 8, granted an ex parte application by the DSS permitting the security agency to keep him for 45 days.

Shortly before the expiration of the 45 days detention order, the Attorney-General of the Federation’s office filed charges of treasonable felony, cybercrime offences and money laundering against him before the Federal High Court in Abuja.

But Justice Taiwo of the High Court on Tuesday granted bail to Sowore, who has now fulfilled all the bail conditions.

Bichi, however, has failed to obey the order granting Sowore bail, prompting his lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN to file a ‘Notice of consequence of court order’ which is to be served on the DSS.
