The All Progressives Congress will boost its accounts with N495 million from sales of expression of Interest and nomination forms for Ekiti and Osun governorship elections.

This is as the party has announced that women and physically challenged aspirants would buy forms for N11.25 million each to qualify for the primary elections.

The party commenced sale of forms on Tuesday at its national secretariat in Abuja in preparation towards holding primaries to choose candidates for the party ahead of the elections.

No fewer than 14 aspirants are jostling for the governorship ticket in Ekiti and seven have already indicated their interests for Osun, including the incumbent.

In Ekiti, some of the aspirants are Mr Olawale Fapohunda, Mr Femi Bamisile, Mr Makinde Araoye, Mr Ademola Popoola, Mr Biodun Oyebanji and Engr. Kayode Ojo.

While in Osun, the incumbent governor, Gboyega Oyetola of the APC would be joined by Ex-Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Yusuf Lasun and six others for the APC tickets.

The National Secretary of APC Caretaker and Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee, John Akpanudodehe, disclosed on Tuesday at the party’s Secretariat that while the nomination form would sell for N20 million, the expression of interest form would cost N2.5 million.

He said the announcement followed the party’s approval of timetable and schedule of activities for the Ekiti and Osun governorship elections.

He however, added that female and physically challenged aspirants would pay 50 per cent of the approved fees.

He said the party’s approved election timetable and schedule of activities for the election in the two states, was in accordance with the provisions of the amended Electoral Act 2010 and Independent National Electoral Commision guidelines.
He pointed out that while sales of forms for Ekiti governorship election began at the party’s national secretariat on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, the last day for submission of completed forms and accompanying documents would be on Tuesday, January 11,2022.

He said screening of aspirants had been scheduled for Thursday January 13, 2022.

Akpanudodehe said publication of claims and objections would be on Monday, January 17, 2022, while entertainment of appeals would hold on Wednesday, January 19, 2022.

He said, “Primary election will be on Saturday January 22, 2022, while election appeal is on Wednesday January 26, 2022.

“For Osun State, notice of election to the State Chapter will be on Wednesday November 17, 2021, while sale of forms will begin at APC National Secretariat on Thursday November 18, 2021.

“Last day for submission of completed forms for Osun governorship election and accompanying documents at APC national secretariat will be on Friday February 18, 2022, while screening of aspirants will be February 22, 2022.’

According to the approved election timetable and schedule of activities, primary election for Osun State would hold on Saturday March 5, 2022 while election appeal would be on Thursday March 10, 2022.

The Ekiti election has been fixed to hold on 18, 2022 while July 16, 2022 has been chosen for the Osun governorship election.
