Electricity Generation Peaks At 5,377.8MW, Says Minister

The Transmission Company of Nigeria recorded an increase in electricity generation to about 5,377 megawatts.

The minister of Power, Sale Mamman who confirmed this said the new record was achieved on August 1.

This figure represents an increase of 2.8 MW when compared to the previous 5,375 MW recorded on the national grid in 2019.

The Minister said the new peak, was successfully transmitted to distribution load centres nationwide.

Meanwhile data from the country’s electricity system operator puts the grid generation installed capacity at 12,954 MW, while the available generation capacity is 7,652MW.

Mamman, however assured that the current administration will constantly strive to make electricity better for Nigerians.
