Enugu Man Celebrates Obaseki’s Victory Because He ‘Hates Oshiomhole’

One Anayo Benjamin, Sunday evening, threw a party at Newberries Park in Enugu for the victory of Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State because, in his words, ‘I hate Adams Oshiomhole’.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with our correspondent in Enugu, Benjamin, a business man, said he had no special likeness for Gov Obaseki, but he would have lost sleep had Adams Oshiomhole’s Pastor Ize-Iyamu won the election.

In his words, “Oshiomhole, as then labour leader, enjoyed absolute respect. I saw him, then, as a messiah for Nigerians because he always stood for the masses, and also fought the government at the risk of his life. When he became governor of Edo State, I celebrated him, and looked forward for people-oriented governance in the state. But he failed woefully, especially by not seeing to the proper welfare of Edo workers, including pensioners. Aside his abysmal scorecard as governor, I also hate the way he talks from both sides of his mouth.

“I appeal to our leaders to learn that life is transient. It moves around and comes around. Ize-Iyamo would have fared better if Oshiomhole didn’t identify with him. The good thing is that the former-celebrated labour leader has fallen from grace to abyss. In Abuja, he has lost it. In his state, right from his ward, Oshiomhole has fallen below respectability.”

He advised Gov Obaseki to embark on people-oriented administration so that the poor masses of Edo State can feel the direct impact of his government, considering how they supported his re-election bid.

“Again,” he said, “Let him borrow a leaf from Gov Nyesom Wike of River State. Wike is after my heart because he is fearless, purposeful and determined.”
