EPL: City Down Stoke To Extend Guardiola’s 100 Percent Record

Manchester City continued their form under coach Pep Guardiola as they won 4-1 at Stoke City in the English Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Sergio Aguero and Nolito scored twice as the visitors defeated Stoke at the Britannia to make it two wins from two in the Premier League, and extend Guardiola’s 100 percent record in English football.

Aguero opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 27th minute when Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross held Otamendi at a corner and referee Mike Dean pointed to the spot.

The Argentine doubled his tally nine minutes later, by heading home a sumptuous Kevin De Bruyne free kick past Shay Given and into the far corner of the goal.

But Stoke were back in the game just four minute after the break thanks to Dean. Sterling was punished as he held back Shawcross from a corner, with the referee again pointing to the spot. Bojan Krkic easily sent Caballero the wrong way to reduce the visitor’s advantage.

City however took the game beyond The Potters in the 83rd minute when Kelechi Iheanacho cleverly set up fellow substitute Nolito to fire home from close range – his first goal in the Premier League.

The Spaniard added the fourth in stoppage time, tapping home a close-range finish as Stoke’s defence crumbled.

Aguero has taken his tally to six for the season already, and City are on equal points with their rivals, Manchester United, for the Premier League, who beat Southampton 2-0 on Friday night.
