Europe To Help Africa Fight Terrorism – Macron

France President, Emmanuel Macron, on Tuesday, pledged to redeploy troops to Africa, to further assist in suppressing terrorism, particularly in the Sahel region.

Macron, in a tweet, stressed that terrorist activities were disrupting the continent in major ways.

But he assured that with the coordinated efforts of foreign and continental armed forces, terrorism would be dealt with decisively.

“Victory is possible in the Sahel; it is decisive for the stability of Africa.

“We are finding our way back thanks to the efforts that have been made over the past few months.

“Areas have been taken from terrorists groups, the armies are being redeployed,” he added.

Macron also noted that some European countries have agreed to send forces to back up the established military presence in the region.

“We are going to consolidate and amplify this dynamic!

“In the coming weeks, Europe will also get involved by sending special forces to the Sahel through the “Takuba” initiative,” tweeted.

The Takuba initiative was founded in March 2020, as a multi-national task force led by France, and also consists of Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Niger, Mali, and others.

The objective of the initiative was geared towards warding off terrorists from the continent.

The reinforcement is coming even as terrorists have inflicted destruction in some communities in the Sahel region.

Terrorists groups are also been neutralized by military forces in some Africa countries.

The Sahel part of Africa includes parts of Senegal, Mauritania, Mali, Burkina Faso, Algeria, Niger, Nigeria, Cameroon and Central African Republic, Chad, central, Sudan, among others.
