Ex-Lagos Governor Lateef Jakande Dies At 91
Former Governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, is dead.
Jakande, who is also known as Baba Kekere, reportedly died on Thursday at the age of 91.
Jakande was Lagos State governor between October 1, 1979 and December 31, 1983.
He could not complete his second term mandate due the December 31, 1983 military coup that brought in Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, who is now Nigeria’s President.
The state witnessed many development projects during his tenure.
Jakande was a journalist before he ventured into politics and was subsequently appointed Minister of Works by the military government led by late Gen Sabi Abacha.
