Fayose Dumps 2019 Presidential Ambition After Receiving Kwankwaso

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has dumped his ambition to take President Muhammadu Buhari’s job at the 2019 presidential election.

Governor Fayose, who was the first aspirant to declare his interest in the 2019 presidency under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), reneged on the bid after receiving presidential hopeful, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on Saturday.

Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State, had visited Fayose at the Government House in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, to consult the governor regarding his own presidential bid.

Speaking on why he dumped the presidential ambition, Fayose said: “I dropped the presidential ambition because of the stolen mandate freely given to my deputy

“As a good leader, I cannot abandon my loyal deputy whose mandate was stolen by the APC and be pursuing another ambition

“My posters are there in a room. I am committed to the recovery of the mandate for now more than anything else,” he said while receiving Kwankwaso.

Meanwhile, the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, said in a separate statement that his principal will remain neutral for now on who to support for the 2019 presidency.

“Though the governor as a human being, a leader and party member, is entitled to have his own choice, for now, he has remained neutral,” said Adelusi.

“As the chairman of the PDP’s Governors’ Forum, he has remained neutral.

“Alhaji Atiku has visited him, Rabiu Kwankwaso has visited him and Taminu Turaki has also visited him. Before now, Sule Lamido has visited him, Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo has equally visited him,” he said.
