Fayose Thanks Ngige For ‘Campaigning For Him’ At Ekiti APC Rally

Following the mockery that trailed Dr Chris Ngige’s gaffe at the All Progressives Congress rally in Ekiti State on Tuesday, Governor Ayodele Fayose has thanked the labour minister for “campaigning for him” at the rally of his political rival, Dr Kayode Fayemi.

Recall that Ngige had repeatedly mentioned Governor Fayose’s name while trying to ask voters in the state to vote APC’s candidate Fayemi as governor at the July 14 governorship election in the state.

The minister, who erroneously mentioned Fayose’s name at least three times, had said: “If you marry 2 wives, you go know which one wey better. Fayose is the better Wife, E dey cook, E de give husband better food … bring back Fayose on Saturday”.

It was an awkward moment and only took President Muhammadu Buhari’s Senior Special Adviser on Diaspora and Foreign Affairs, Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, to correct Ngige before he could rightly ask the voters to vote Fayemi instead of Fayose at the poll.

Reacting however to the drama on Wednesday morning, Governor Fayose took to twitter to thank his “good friend” for campaigning for him for free at the APC rally.

“I thank my good friend, Dr Chris Ngige for campaigning for me at the APC rally in Ado Ekiti yesterday. Dr. Ngige is a man who is not always afraid to say the truth and that’s what he demonstrated yesterday even in the presence of the President and other APC leaders,” tweeted the governor.

Meanwhile, Fayose, whose second tenure in office terminates this year, is rooting for his deputy, Professor Kolapo Olusola Eleka, to take over from him when he eventually leaves office.

Eleka had emerged the Ekiti governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the party’s recently held primary election.
