Five Feared Killed As Armed Robbers Attack Banks, Police Station In Osun

Armed robbers on Wednesday invaded two new generation banks in Apomu in the Isokan Local Government Area and Ikire, headquarters of Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State.

Five residents were reportedly shot dead during the attacks on the bank and the police station.

It was learnt that the armed robbers numbering about 20 invaded the two communities at around 6pm after the banks had closed for the day’s work.

The hoodlums reportedly announced their arrival amidst shooting. Some persons were reportedly shot and injured while five were said to have died.

Some of the residents said they could not ascertain if the hoodlums succeeded in breaking into the banks but said at least five persons were killed.

The Police Public Relations Officer for the command, Mrs Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the attack when she was contacted.

The PPRO said, “The Commissioner of Police, Mr Olawale Olokode, is now at the scene of the crime. The robbers attacked two banks and they killed some people. They also attacked a police station during the operation. But peace has been restored.”
