Football Managers Stole More Than Politicians In Nigeria, Says Taribo West

Hours after Former Super Eagles defender, Taribo West was appointed into the NFF Technical Study Group Committee, the veteran defender turned pastor has repeated his intention to rid Nigeria football of corruption, saying the politicians have not stolen as much as football managers.

West had earlier on Saturday threatened to embark on a protest to create awareness about corruption in the glass house.

But he was quickly named in the NFF Technical Study Group Committee list released on Monday.

The former Inter Milan man confirmed the appointment in an interview with Brila.net but maintained that it won’t stop him from his previous plans.

“I am aware of the appointment but I am not going to be that kind of person they are going to push into political circle. Whatever is happening in the system of our nation must also affect our football because if the masses are coming out to say they are against the system because it has failed to provide for them, we must also carry that to the football house because for my own opinion, the money that have been syphoned in the football house is greater than the politicians’.

“The protest should not be one-sided, it should affect every sector so that our football can become what it should be. It should evolve and take all of us. It should take us because your experience cannot just be wasted in this nation. Your experience should be somewhere. If it is not in the grassroots, it should be at state level; it should be in the federal level, in the area that all your experience in Greece, Belgium and all other part of the world cannot be wasted.

“How can we be wasting that impact that you have inside of you that you can give back to the younger generation and somebody is there and because of godfatherism in politics and is killing the system and there is no support.

“I cannot be dragged into this kind of political divide and conquer. We have to make sure that we structure that house. That house needs to be structured.”
