Ghana Election: Violence Breaks Ahead Of Presidential Result,5 Dead

Ahead of the announcement of the winner result of Ghana presidential elections, violence has broken out in the country leading to the death of persons, according to the country’s police authorities.

The Ghanaian Police Service on Wednesday said violence erupted in more than 60 locations across the country.

“Twenty-one of the incidents are true cases of electoral violence, six of which involve gunshots resulting in the death of five,” it said in a statement, as quoted by Reuters.

THE WHISTLER earlier reported that President Nana Akufo-Addo contested the election against former Ghana President, John Dramani Mahama, who had campaigned for change.

State media reports that both candidates are in a tight race.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s former president, Goodluck Jonathan, had called for peaceful conduct during and after the polls for  democracy to thrive.
