This was declared by Jean Mensa, Chairperson of the electoral commission.

She said Addo scored 6,730,413 votes, while former Ghana President, John Dramani Mahama secured 6,240,889 votes.

“We must be proud that the long queues and the overcrowding were all absent at the polling stations.

“It is my duty to declare Nana Addo president elect of the Republic of Ghana,” she said.

THE WHISTLER earlier reported that President Akufo-Addo was being challenged in the election by former Ghana President, John Dramani Mahama, who had campaigned for change.

But reacting to the announcement by the EC, Addo lauded Ghanaians for entrusting him with four more years of leadership.

“Thank you Ghana for voting for 4More,” he tweeted.
