Gov Diri ‘Snubs’ BBNaija’s Nengi, Announces First Class Graduate As ‘New Face Of Bayelsa’

In what many may consider a snub on Rebecca ‘Nengi’ Hampson of the Big Brother Naija ‘lockdown’ house, Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has conferred the title of ‘New Face of Bayelsa Girl’ on one Miss Ebizi Blessing Eradiri, who recently graduated with first class in the state.

THE WHISTLER recalls that Governor Diri had late last year announced Nengi as the ‘Face of Bayelsa Girl’ after she emerged as one of the finalists in the reality TV show. She had also been appointed as Senior Special Assistant to the governor.

Some Nigerians, including singer Charly Boy, had slammed Diri for snubbing the first-class graduate, while honouring the reality TV star.

But the governor appears to have retraced his step as he has honoured Miss Eradiri who was said have graduated with first class honours both at the Niger Delta University, Amassoma, and the Nigerian Law School.

Diri received the young lady at the Bayelsa State Government House, Yenegoa, where he announced her as the “New Face of Bayelsa Girl”.

Eradiri, it was learnt, was also awarded academic scholarships for her Masters and Ph.D in any University of her choice as well as automatic employment as lecturer in the Faculty of Law, Niger Delta University.

Present at the event was the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo and His Royal Majesty, King Bubaraye Dakolo, King of Ekpetiama Clan, who led Eradiri’s family, amongst others, to the Government House.
