Gov Obiano Imposes Curfew On Two Anambra Communities

Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State, Monday, imposed a curfew on two warring communities of Omor and Anaku in Ayamelum Local Government Area of the state.

The two communities had weekend engaged in communal clashes which claimed three lives, and injured nine persons.

A former chief judge of the state, Justice Paul Obidigwe, was injured during the skirmishes. Also, three houses, including the house of a former commissioner in the state, Dr Christian Madubuko, were burnt.
The curfew, according to the secretary to the state government, Prof Solo Chukwulobelu, is from 7pm to 6am until further notice, and with immediate effect.

THE WHISTLER reports that the current crisis between the two communities stemmed from claims over a piece of land.
