How APC, PDP Supporters Disrupted Sunday Church Service In Abuja

Anyone who doubts Nigerians passion for God and politics would change their mind if they were part of last Sunday’s congregation at a church in Gwarimpa Estate.

The congregation at the Gwarimpa Parish of The Presbyterian Church of Nigeria was momentarily distracted during a prayer session for peaceful conduct of the postponed general elections.

The Church was filled at about 10:30am and the officiating minister had finished his sermon for the day. He then veered into the issue of the postponed election and asked the congregation to pray for a peaceful general election.

Then the congregation started a rain of prayers for God to intervene so that the country would have a violence-free and peaceful election.

Suddenly, the congregation was distracted by what appeared to be a “war of prayers” between members of the two leading political parties in the church.

The first shot was fired by a male supporter of the Peoples Democratic Party {PDP) when he said: “Any devices from APC, every of their plan against this election, every plan of Buhari, Father scatter it, scatter it! “He went on to ask God to ‘destroy all the plans of the ruling party.

The man’s prayer elicited immediate response from some supporters of the APC in the congregation who started firing their own shots.

“God scatter and destroy all the plans and evil devices of the PDP. Father don’t allow them to succeed in whatever evil plans they have,” one of them prayed.

The war of prayers attracted other members of the congregation who turned to watch the drama between supporters of the two parties.

The prayers ended when the officiating minister said “Aaamen” to all the prayers and asked God to “answer all our prayers.”
