How Troops Rescued 43 Persons, 500 Cows In Borno

No fewer than 43 persons abducted by Boko Haram militants have been rescued by troops in Mafa local government area of Maiduguri, the Borno state capital on September 18.

500 cows belonging to the former captives were also rescued.

Major Salisu Mustapha of the 7 division Nigerian Army who confirmed the incident, said the rescue took place at Dalakalari village.

Narrating how the Boko Haram terrorists abducted some cattle rearers and livestock at gunpoint, he said, “Some well meaning people informed the military who swung into action and pursued the terrorists.

“The terrorists, sensing danger, abandoned the livestock just before Panamri village and ran away.”

Mustapha said both the rescued persons and cows have been handed over to the local authorities.
