Shodipe said this in the interview he granted Oriyomi Hamzat TV immediately after he was re-arrested at the residence of his grandma in the Bodija area of Ibadan on Sunday.

He said, ” I was kept at Mokola Police Station when i was arrested the first time. The new female DPO posted to Mokola Police Station told a policeman, Funso, that he should take us out to have our bath on the day I escaped.

“The policeman ( Funso) took me out and he warned me against trying to escape. I didn’t even think of escaping from him when he gave me the warning.

“But when I saw that he was engrossed in his discussion with someone else , I climbed the borehole stand and scaled the fence.

” It was around 7:pm when I escaped. Some women and the boys who saw me when they took me to the station saw me when I scaled the fence and ran away. They did not even raise an alarm or pursied me. That was how I escaped.”

The 19-year-old suspect had, when paraded by the police on July 17, confessed to the killings.

He narrated how his master, a herbalist, used to give him food and N500 for each killing.

He said he used to attack his victims with a shovel and after they might have become unconscious he would recite the incantation taught him by his master while backing the dead victim. He said the spirit of such victim would go to the herbalist and would be used for ritual.
