Henceforth people who withhold information on corruption from anti-graft agencies will be arrested and prosecuted, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has warned.

“ICPC warns people or organisations that withhold information from anti-corruption to be ready for arrest and prosecution.”

Owasanoye said the commission is also working in collaboration with the police in curbing acts of corruption on the roads through road campaigns and joint operations.

He also revealed that the agency has blocked the sum of nine (9) billion naira from agencies of government from being spent through its System Study and Review activity.

The ICPC boss further revealed that ICPC has arrested 59 staff of a federal ministry for alleged N3bn fraud, adding that the agency has seized 300 properties from different persons who allegedly acquired them through proceeds of crime.

While noting that it is a great offence when one denies committing an offence with glaring evidence of corruption, Owasanoye said the commission is working with National Orientation Agency (NOA) to change the perception of people which often leads them to engage in corruption.

“It is great offence when you deny having committed an offence when there is glaring evidence of corruption against you. We are working with National Orientation Agency Nigeria to change perception of people which often leads them to engage in corruption,” he said.

“The commission is recording success in its Constituency Projects Tracking and will soon start 2nd phase of the exercise.

“The commission’s collaboration with the National Social Investment Office is yielding results as arrests have been made for those that allegedly diverted funds meant for the poorest of the poor,” he concluded.
