‘Is It Not Nakedness? I Will Show Them’, Nigerians React To Cameras Hidden In Hotel Rooms

Last week Nigerians were greeted with a trending video on social media of a hotel in Ogun state were multiple cameras were found hidden in rooms .

Guests who lodged in the hotel took to Instagram to express outrage after finding cameras in the rooms they lodged in.

The cameras were hidden in the Air Conditioning system in a manner that would make it difficult to be noticed.

THE WHISTLER spoke to a cross section of Nigerians to find out if they will be willing to lodge in a hotel that have cameras hidden in them.

Here’s Is What They Have To Say

An Agroprenuer, Godwill Benson based in Calabar said he would never agree to stay in a hotel that have cameras planted in the rooms no matter the security they are providing.

“I would be stripped off my right to privacy, and should incase I’m not told and find out later I would feel bad; if I have the power and time I would sue the management of the hotel”

Lauretta Geoffrey, A fashion designer in Port Harcourt said “NEVER” It’s illegal globally whether it’s for security issues or not.

She further shared that some popular 5 star hotels that are also guilty of the act but swore to sue any hotels that try’s it with her.

“I swear if I am not told before hand and they deceive me to lodge i will sue the hotel and ensure the business crumbles.”

George Okoro a business man in Lagos said “did I pay to provide live porn?
“How I’m I sure that I would be safe after my stay there. What if the hoteliers are criminals that will end up selling off confidential information they get to see while monitoring me. What if I come with my spouse and things get freaky, I can’t let that happen .

But in a contrary opinion , Jeff Uchenna said if he has nothing to hide he will lodge in the hotel.

Speaking in pidgin English, he said, “No be nakedness them wan see, I go show them nakedness”

He however said women are at higher risk because “stuffs like that aren’t men oriented, nobody like naked man.

Imade Tom said “Me that love my privacy and my body, I will not think it even though that’s the only hotel, that’s breaking my privacy rights now.

“Putting camera means you literally watched me naked too without my consent.

“But if I find out after I have stayed like two nights, it will pain me o and I would have love to sue them but then I will get tired along the line.

“So the best thing I think I will do is to call them out, thank God for social media then tell people about the camera. That’s the only thing that will really pain them.”
